About John Meirion Rea

Biography

John Meirion Rea is an award winning composer, whose varied work encompasses film and television scores, concert platform commissions, and music theatre.

John has received two BAFTA Awards for his orchestral scores for the BBC, and S4C.

Recent projects include original music for an outdoor theatrical experience to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of Cardiff’s Welsh Millennium Centre, in collbaboration with Manchester based Theatre Company ‘Walk The Plank’.

In addition, John has composed numerous television documentaries, Adverts, Drama, Idents, and Theme Tunes.

As a musician and arranger, John has also played piano, and arranged & orchestrated for The Manic Street Preachers, Martin Carr (The Boo Radleys), InMe, Mel C, Charlotte Church and conducted live performances with the legendary John Cale (Velvet Underground).
